2011
Merry Christmas to you all

With the 2011 fishing & hunting season now behind us, we would like to say that we were glad to see that most of you folks were able to come & visit our family this year. We have to mention though that it was a bit of a different place without our Lady dog this year. Her passing on the 1st of May was tough & to be honest, the place just wasn't quite the same. We know that she was dearly missed. However, the Posthumus family is doing well. Steven is finishing his last year of his teaching degree, Adam is in his second year of his Forestry studies and Ryan has been working towards an apprenticeship in carpentry. They are busy boys. At this time, we want to thank all of you folks for your prayers, thoughts and concerns in regards to our mom, wife and grandma, Lil. Her health has been steadily declining and these past 2 months have been very hard on her. Continue to keep her in your prayers.

This year, spring arrived on schedule with water levels at their norm making the fishing phenomenal. Folks were catching and releasing lots of walleyes over the 18" slot. It has been six years since the slot was implemented and this has turned the lake around. Also, a lot of big northern were caught throughout the season. One new change on the northern was the removal of the slot of 27.5" – 25.5". Our folks found that they were catching numerous bass this year as that population has increased on the lake. Fall fishing was quite good also thanks to the steady water level and good run-off.

Each year, we have had trophies for adults as well as the kids in the catch & release categories. Due to good sportsmanship and digital cameras, most pictures were taken on the lake by you, the visitors. We do have some pictures but we know that there are a lot more out there. Please email or mail your pictures of those nice fish you caught & released and we’ll be sure that the winner’s trophies will be waiting next spring.

We didn't have any bear hunters for the fall bear hunt so we figure there should still be plenty out there for next year's hunt. Grouse hunting had started off slowly but as weeks went by, we saw plenty of grouse. Mother Nature sure changed up the weather for our moose hunt this year. Temperatures for the first 3 days were in the 75 degree range. Along came the winds and the hangovers with missed shots and poor aim. At the end of it all, 1 bull was shot by the one & only "Moose Patrol Norm" who allowed the one moose to "Enter His World". We know different don't we Scott.

Some of the changes for next year include a slight increase due to fuel prices and insurance. The biggest change is that due to M.N.R. licensing changes, we will no longer be selling any licenses to our customers. However, the M.N.R. has made it possible & easy to get the necessary licenses & outdoors cards you'll need online. To get your license before you visit, go to: www1.on.wildlifelicense.com/start.php. This will bring you to the Service Ontario M.N.R. website. Then click on licensing, permits and purchases, from that page you'll follow all the instructions. If you do not do this, you'll have to stop at a licensing location before you visit us.

Our thanks go to all of the folks for your bar tips & road fund donations. Several loads of gravel were purchased and grading as well as general upkeep was completed by Steve. As you are all aware, this is an annual ongoing process and we appreciate your help. We also appreciate your business and could always use a little more so if you send us a new group of visitors our way, be sure to tell them to mention your name as the reference and we will in return take care of you in the form of a 5% discount on your stay. Just a reminder, deposits are to be in by Jan. 30th, any cancellations made after April 1st are non-refundable and our check-in time is still 1 p.m.

We look forward to seeing our visitors and friends again next year and wish you the very best of good health and God's blessings for the holiday season and throughout 2012.

Sincerely,
Steve, Lori, Steven, Adam, Ryan, Tom & Lil
